Driver Record
Can an individual driver record influence the level of Driver Reimbursements given to a specific employee? Should it? As a business owner or manager in charge of mobility, these are questions you may have to answer. Withholding or limiting reimbursements because of driving habits is an option worth considering, and may help you reach multiple bottom lines.
Using the driver record as an indication of professionalism
You might not be able to see where your drivers are, where they're going or what they're up to while on the road - and on company time - but the driver record can provide a certain indication of how they're driving. And the management has several options when faced with these records:
- They can provide training to hopefully rectify any habits detrimental to profitability
- They can note a "bad driver" and try to find a different position within the company for that individual
- They can tie incentives and even overall compensation to the overall record of the individual.
And why not? The job is driving after all, and any driver should be aware that while they're on the road they can and should be held responsible for their actions. And driving records make keeping track that much easier.
